DINNER FAQS
Q: Where is the dinner experience located?
A: Right inside Otok Bakery! We’re at 506 Grand Street in Hoboken — the same spot where we bake our bread fresh every morning in a 120-year-old coal oven.
Q: How many people can come?
A: Our dinners are best with 8 to 12 guests. It keeps things cozy, fun, and personal — like a big dinner party, just without the cleanup.
Q: What if we're fewer than 8 people?
A: Totally fine! We’re happy to host smaller groups, but since it’s a private experience, the price is still based on 8 people.
Q: How long does the dinner last?
A: We kick things off at 7pm and wrap up by 11pm. It’s meant to feel like a long, leisurely dinner at a friend’s house — with coal-fired vibes and maybe some hands-on fun in the kitchen. Just a heads up, we do ask everyone to head out by 11 so our baking team can start their shift.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Think comfy and casual — and maybe skip the silk. You’ll be hanging out in a real working bakery, which means a little flour, a little coal dust, and definitely some heat. We suggest layers, closed-toe shoes, and clothes you won’t mind smelling like fresh bread afterward (not the worst souvenir).
Q: Can I bring my own drinks?
A: Yes, please do! We’re BYOB. We provide still and sparkling water, plus coffee, espresso, and tea. Everything else is up to you — wine, cocktails, soda, whatever you’d enjoy with dinner. Just drink responsibly and make sure anyone sipping alcohol is 21+.
Q: What about bringing our own food?
A: If you have something special you want to add to the meal — especially for dietary reasons — let us know ahead of time and we’ll do our best to say yes or maybe we can make it for you.
Q: I have a food allergy or dietary restriction — can you accommodate?
A: Absolutely. Just let us know when you book and we’ll do everything we can to make it work. We want everyone to enjoy the night (and the food) stress-free.
Q: How do we pay?
A: We love good old-fashioned cash, but we also accept Venmo (@otokbakery) and credit cards. Just note: Venmo has a 2% fee and credit cards a 3.5% one. We ask for a $700 deposit to reserve your date, and the rest is due the day of. (Tip + tax not included.)
Q: What's your cancellation policy?
A: That $700 deposit is non-refundable unless we’re able to rebook your night — either by finding another group or if you find someone to take your place. If we fill it, we’re happy to refund.
Q: Is there parking?
A: Street parking’s available (paid), and Midtown Garage at 371 4th Street is just two blocks away. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy times, so leave yourself a little extra time if you’re driving.
Q: Can kids come too?
A: This one’s just for the grown-ups. The space and vibe are better suited to adults — and let’s be honest, you deserve a night out anyway.
Q: Can we decorate the space?
A: Yes! We love a little personal flair. Bring your own décor — just skip the glitter and confetti (our bakers will thank you). If you’re thinking candles, make sure they’re flameless or enclosed for safety. Got ideas? Just run them by us ahead of time.
Reviews
My husband and I came for the private dinner option and it was amazing. It’s hosted by the cutest couple who are so accommodating from meal choices to music preferences. The multi course meal was incredible and it’s such a fun and unique experience getting to meet a small group of locals from Hoboken for an intimate dinner. They thought of everything to make the night perfect and made us cute to-go bags with fresh bread. We highly recommend booking for a date night or small group event! 10/10
We booked a private dinner for my husbands birthday and it was phenomenal! The food was delicious-we are still talking about it a week later. Maren and Bill were so attentive and amazing! Thank you so much, Otok! Hope to be back soon :)
Thank you so much for having us! It was a wonderful night and the food was incredible! Such a great experience. We've recommended to multiple other couples to stop in and reach out for the dinner.
